Speaker Series: Pam Wasson, Executive Director of the Lord & Schryver Conservancy
April 12 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am PDT
Pam Wasson, Executive Director of the Lord & Schryver Conservancy will discuss the work and legacy of Elizabeth Lord and Edith Schryver, the first degreed female landscape architects to own and operate their own firm west of the Mississippi River. Lord & Schryver designed more than 250 gardens throughout the Pacific Northwest between 1929 and 1969. Ms. Wasson will be joined by staff members of the Conservancy.
The program will feature the Deepwood Museum and Gardens and Gaiety Hollow, Lord and Schryver’s 1932 home, garden, and studio on Mission Street in Salem, Oregon where they lived for more than 40 years. The garden is considered to be the tour de force of their life work. In 2015, the Lord & Schryver Conservancy acquired and began restoring the garden of Gaiety Hollow. Now open to the public, Gaiety Hollow is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Pam Wasson is the first Executive Director of the Lord & Schryver Conservancy. She is responsible for communicating and advancing the Conservancy’s mission to preserve, interpret, and steward the legacy of pioneering landscape architects Elizabeth Lord and Edith Schryver for public enrichment.
We will host a door prize drawing at the end of the event. The doors open at 9:30 am with light refreshments available. Our presentation begins promptly at 10 a.m.
