The Grandiflora Coretta Scott King rose was bred by Christian Bédard of Weeks Roses, and introduced in 2013 by Edmunds’ Roses. The rose is a creamy pink with coral-tinged petal edges and the blooms are up to 4 inches across. The bush can grow to 5 feet, and the leaves are dark, glossy green.
Coretta Scott King was a civil rights activist, writer, and wife of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. She was a powerful and charismatic leader in her own right and spent most of her life championing causes for racial and gender equality. She died in 2006 at the age of 78.
